BEM Group & Heritage College have built a fantastic partnership over the years, working closely to develop and construct a number of exciting projects for their Lake Macquarie campus.
Recently, the College unveiled their newly completed Covered Outdoor Learning Area (COLA). In this project BEM Group took on the role of design & procurement management, project management and superintendency, working closely with the College to fulfill the brief and deliver a beautiful outcome for the school and its students.
This COLA provides the students, staff and school community with a multi-functional outdoor learning space, a basketball court, and a presentation stage supported by state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment. The COLA fits seamlessly within the existing school grounds, complimenting the existing school buildings on the site. For the College, the benefits of this year-round, all-weather space will be felt for generations to come as they enjoy the increased engagement that outdoor education creates.
Another exciting BEM Group project currently underway at Heritage College is the development of a new multi-level learning precinct for the colleges Senior School.
This new building includes an outdoor amphitheatre on the lower level, a state-of-the art food technology precinct, additional learning and study areas, and a skillion roof with highlight windows on the second floor allowing the stunning natural environment outside to seamlessly flow through the space. The College’s students, staff and community will enjoy this beautiful new building whilst still being able to take in the picturesque natural landscape that surrounds them.
BEM visited the project site recently with the Heritage College team to celebrate the commencement of the build and the fantastic relationships that have been built along the way. After much consultation with the College this structure is not only functional, but also beautiful and complementary to its surroundings. On completion, this new project will reinforce Heritage College’s position as a leader in the educational setting in Lake Macquarie.
